The most important active temple in India with Brahma as its principal deity — modest in size, immense in standing, marked by a red spire and a silver turtle at the sanctum. Temples centred on Brahma are genuinely uncommon, but not unique, and you will be told here that this is the only one on earth; it is not. Entry is free; phones and bags are deposited at the gate; mornings are calmest.

Why Brahma temples are rare
The legend told at Pushkar: Brahma's wife Savitri, arriving late to his great yagna here, cursed that the creator would be worshipped almost nowhere on earth — except Pushkar. Told as legend, felt as fact at evening aarti; her own temple watches from the hill across the lake.
