Saheliyon ki Bari — the Garden of the Maidens — is an eighteenth-century pleasure garden in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, laid out by Maharana Sangram Singh II for a queen and the forty-eight attendants who came with her in her dowry. Its fountains have no pumps: they run on water piped down from Fateh Sagar and gravity alone. Entry is small, roughly ₹50–100 for foreign visitors, and it opens around 09:00.

Fountains with no machinery
Every jet in the garden is driven by gravity: water is fed from the Fateh Sagar lake above and falls through a system of channels, so the pressure comes from height alone. Nothing pumps, nothing is powered, and the whole thing has worked without an engine since the eighteenth century. Ask the attendant to switch on the lotus-pool jets — they usually will.
