Best time to visit Udaipur, month by month

October – March. Crisp mornings and golden evenings — the lakes at their kindest. The monsoon (July–September) fills them and greens the hills: beautiful, humid, occasionally drenching. April to June is hot; the city empties and prices soften. Our pick: November — full lakes just after the rains, cool rooftop nights, and the light photographers cross the world for.

The season, honestly

Udaipur is kindest from October to March. The monsoon (July–September) fills the lakes and greens the hills — beautiful, humid, occasionally drenching. April to June is hot but bearable by lake standards; the city empties and prices soften.

October to March

Oct: 32° / 18° — season opens; Diwali sparkle

Nov: 28° / 12° — golden light, cool evenings

Dec: 25° / 9° — cold nights, wedding-season buzz

Jan: 24° / 8° — crisp mornings, perfect days — peak season

Feb: 27° / 11° — warm, dry, ideal

Mar: 32° / 16° — warming; Holi colours the city

April to September

Apr: 36° / 21° — hot afternoons; sunrise sightseeing

May: 38° / 25° — hot; lakes at their lowest

Jun: 36° / 25° — pre-monsoon heat, first storms

Jul: 31° / 24° — monsoon — lakes filling, hills green

Aug: 29° / 23° — wettest; misty Sajjangarh

Sep: 31° / 22° — rains retreat; everything green

If you can only come in the heat

Start at opening, be back indoors by eleven, and go out again an hour before sunset. City Palace at 8am in May is emptier and better than at noon in December — the city's rhythm is the desert's, and it rewards anyone who keeps it.
